Why "Being A Good Hang" Might Matter More Than Your Resume
Aug 28, 2025
If you’ve toured, you know this: people hire who they trust, and they rehire who they like being around.
Skills matter. But culture makes or breaks the gig.
What Makes Someone a “Good Hang”?
Respectful → you listen more than you talk, you don’t belittle others.
Positive under pressure → you keep the vibe light when things go wrong.
Reliable → you don’t disappear when it’s hard; people can count on you.
Self-aware → you know when to step up, and when to give space.
Kind → you recognize others’ work, say thank you, and celebrate the team.
Humble → you carry yourself with quiet confidence and let the work (and the crew) shine.
What Makes Someone a “Bad Hang”?
Complaining constantly.
Throwing blame when things go wrong.
Acting above certain jobs or people.
Killing the vibe with negativity or ego.
Being difficult to travel with- messy, rude, unreliable.
At the end of the day:
A “good hang” doesn’t mean being everyone’s best friend. It means being someone who makes the day easier, not harder. Be the kind of person who YOU would want to work with.
